Introducing Athena’s Notebook

 In learning-first-literacy-center

The team at the Learning FIRST Literacy Center knew that we wanted to launch a blog to share resources, ideas, support, and insights into the hottest topics in literacy instruction. The question was…how do we name our blog? As we considered ideas, our thoughts kept coming back to one of the oldest literacy experiences available, mythology. Admittedly, none of us were huge fans of mythology in school. However, its emergence as a high interest topic for many of our readers in schools sparked our interest. Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom and inspiration, seemed the appropriate muse. She is also the goddess of strategic warfare and, let’s be honest, with the pressures we sometimes face in schools, from a variety of interest groups, a little bit of strategy isn’t a bad thing!

We look forward to this opportunity to share ideas and welcome your thoughts as to topics you would like to see covered.
