Event Description

This full-day interactive session equips school leaders with practical strategies to foster collective teacher efficacy—the shared belief among staff that through their collaborative efforts, they can positively impact student achievement regardless of external circumstances. Participants will explore the five key enabling conditions that research has shown to strengthen collective efficacy and will develop an actionable implementation plan tailored to their unique school context.

Research (Hattie, 2025) demonstrates that collective teacher efficacy has the highest positive impact on student achievement. When teachers believe in their collective ability to make a difference, remarkable transformations occur in school culture and student outcomes.

In this session, Dr. Jenni Donohoo will  guide school leaders in understanding, assessing, and systematically strengthening the five enabling conditions for collective teacher efficacy:

  1. Goal Consensus – Building shared understanding and commitment to meaningful school improvement goals

  2. Empowering Teachers – Creating meaningful opportunities for teacher leadership, decision-making, and professional agency

  3. Teachers' Knowledge About Each Other's Work – Developing structures for collaboration, observation, and sharing of effective practices

  4. Embedded Reflective Practices – Nurturing a culture of trust, psychological safety, and professional community

  5. Supportive Leadership – Implementing leadership practices that are supportive, distributed, and growth-oriented

Participants will develop practical strategies to strengthen efficacy in their own school contexts.
